Design & Styling
The upcoming Mahindra XUV 800 will come with a sleek and sculpted design as it will be sharing its bodywork with its ICE sibling, the XUV700. However, it will feature a redesigned front and rear which will look more like the XUV400. It will come with a unique black front grille design that will boast the brand’s latest logo. The front end will be further enhanced with the use of chrome inserts, sleek LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights. It will get an angular LED taillight and a shark fin antenna. The sculpted hood, wide stance and prominent wheel arches will give the Mahindra XUV 800 a robust appearance.
Powertrain & Performance
This new Mahindra SUV will boast an asynchronous electric motor sourced from Volkswagen MEB modular electric platform. Mahindra XUV 800 will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack with liquid cooling. It will be offered in both a front-wheel drive system and an all-wheel drive system. Mahindra will also offer a variant with a dual-motor powertrain that will deliver more power and torque, compared to the single-motor variant. It is expected to provide a driving range of more than 500 kilometres and it will be offered with two charging options. The Mahindra XUV 800 will offer blazing-fast acceleration despite its size, thanks to its potent electric powertrain.
Suspension & Brakes
Mahindra XUV 800 will be equipped with a well-tuned independent suspension system that will provide a comfortable and smooth ride. It will feature a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. Mahindra will also equip it with a stabilizer bar at both ends that will further improve its stability at high speeds. The Mahindra XUV 800 will come with a powerful braking system with a regenerative braking system. It will be fitted with ventilated disc brakes on the front wheel and solid disc brakes on the rear wheels. It will also get ABS as standard, which will enable smooth and safe braking in various conditions.
Well, Mahindra has not yet disclosed the exact dimension of this electric SUV, but we expect it to be almost the same size as its ICE sibling, the XUV700. The XUV 800 is the production version of Mahindra’s W610 concept. Mahindra has already displayed the W610 concept at the Mahindra Advanced Design Europe studio last year in Oxfordshire. The concept model shown at the studio was an electric version of the XUV700, which the brand plans to name XUV 800. Although the Indian manufacturer has not revealed any official launch date, we expect this electric SUV to make its debut in the second half of 2024.
