Mahindra XUV 800 Summary
The upcoming Mahindra XUV 800 will come with a sleek and sculpted design as it will be sharing its bodywork with its ICE sibling, the XUV700. However, it will feature a redesigned front and rear which will look more like the XUV400. It will get a blank grille and bumper design at the front that will give this a futuristic EV look. Along with a 7-seater variant, the XUV 800 will also be offered in a 5-seater variant like the Toyota Corolla Cross. This electric SUV will be equipped with an independent MacPherson strut front suspension and an independent multi-link rear suspension. It will also get a stabilizer bar at both ends. Mahindra XUV 800 will be fitted with ventilated disc brakes with ABS and electronic brake force distribution.
This new Mahindra SUV will boast an asynchronous electric motor sourced from Volkswagen MEB modular electric platform. Mahindra XUV 800 will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack with liquid cooling. It will be offered in both a front-wheel drive system and an all-wheel drive system. Mahindra will also offer a variant with a dual-motor powertrain that will deliver more power and torque, compared to the single-motor variant. It is expected to provide a driving range of more than 500 kilometres and it will be offered with two charging options. Mahindra XUV 800 will be offered with 6 standard airbags and safety features like speed sensing door lock, tyre pressure monitor, and seat belt warning.
Mahindra XUV 800 Price and Launch In India
The XUV 800 is the production version of Mahindra’s W610 concept. Mahindra has already displayed the W610 concept at the Mahindra Advanced Design Europe studio last year in Oxfordshire. The concept model shown at the studio was an electric version of the XUV700, which the brand plans to name XUV 800. Although the Indian manufacturer has not revealed any official launch date, we expect this electric SUV to make its debut in the second half of 2024. The Mahindra XUV 800 price in India is expected to start at Rs 21 Lakh for the base model.
Does the Mahindra XUV 800 Make Sense?
Mahindra received a solid response from Indian buyers after it launched the smaller XUV400 in the market. This C-segment electric SUV has been doing great in terms of sales, and the brand wants to add more electric models to its lineup. The XUV 800 has been in development for a long time now and finally, the brand has revealed the concept model. As the demand for electric cars is growing, this new-electric SUV will help the brand further strengthen its position in the market.
As mentioned above, the XUV 800 will be using a powertrain and battery pack sourced from Volkswagen. It is expected to deliver exciting performance as well as a good driving range. A front-wheel drivetrain will be standard, while the top-end model will also come with the option of an all-wheel drivetrain. In terms of features, we expect to be loaded with a lot of comfort and tech features like its ICE sibling. The Mahindra XUV 800 is one of the awaited electric cars and we hope to see it soon in the Indian market.
